The village of Freshford is one of the attractive villages set in the deep sided Limpley Stoke valley. The River Frome joins with the River Avon on the edge of the parish and there is a wonderful network of local footpaths across the countryside. A gentle stroll from the cottage brings you to the Grade 1 Italian Peto gardens of Iford Manor and a short drive brings you to the American Museum.
Bath offers so much to see and do – the magnificent Roman Baths and at every turn the stunning Georgian architecture of this World Heritage City. The Thermae Bath Spa offers the only place in the UK where you can relax in natural thermal waters and the rooftop pool gives breathtaking views across the skyline of Bath to the surrounding hills. Crisscrossing the city are little alleyways with hidden away shops and there are boutiques and high street names for every taste.
Within 30 minutes drive, you can reach Longleat and the Safari Park, the quintessentially old English village of Lacock and the awe inspiring cathedral of Wells. And within an hour, you can be at Stonehenge, Glastonbury, Cheddar Caves and numerous National Trust houses and gardens.
Dolphin Cottage is also close to several wedding venues, so ideal for family accommodation if attending weddings at Homewood Park, Priston Mill, Orchardleigh or the numerous Bath wedding venues.
There are many beautiful gardens to visit in the area including The Courts at Holt and Iford Manor and many superb private gardens open from time to time under the National Gardens Scheme.
